What was declared, and when
The NTA declared the UGC NET June 2026 result on 28 August 2026, releasing scorecards for 84 subjects together with the subject-wise and category-wise cut-off marks and the final answer key. Candidates who sat the June 2026 cycle can log in at ugcnet.nta.nic.in to check their qualifying status, download their scorecard, and see whether they’ve cleared the exam for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor, or PhD admission.
The exam itself ran from 22 to 30 June 2026 in computer-based mode, with a re-examination for affected candidates on 5 July 2026. Each candidate sits two papers in one uninterrupted three-hour session — Paper 1 on teaching and research aptitude, Paper 2 on the chosen subject.

Understanding the cut-off
There’s no single UGC NET cut-off — it’s subject-specific and varies by category (UR, OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, PwD, Third Gender) and by the qualification type being sought. Before any subject cut-off applies, candidates must first clear a minimum aggregate: 40% for general category, and 35% for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and Transgender candidates.
Above that threshold, the actual cut-off is set so the total number of NET-qualified candidates in a subject works out to roughly 6% of everyone who appeared in both papers for that subject, with slots then allocated across categories per the government’s reservation policy. JRF cut-offs run meaningfully higher than Assistant Professor or PhD-only cut-offs, reflecting the smaller number of fellowship slots.
